Course/Programme Content

Combining the artistic and creative talent of performance and production with the business skills and understanding of enterprise, communication our courses in Music, Music Technology and Performing Arts are unique.  They will give you the confidence to become both an emerging artist in your chosen area and a business savvy entrepreneur.  It has never been more important for creative professionals to know the value of their creative output and the contribution it can make to the business success of large and small companies in a wide range of sectors.

 

You will specialise in one area but have the opportunities to work in teams to gain experience in a range of related areas in preparation for work in the multi-skilled creative industries, including;

•                New Computer Music Production

•                Studio Recording

•                Live sound for Showcase Events

 

•                Acting for Camera

•                Acting for Stage

•                Voice over for Radio / Animation / Film

 

•                Contemporary Dance

•                Physical Theatre

 

A wide range of career paths are available after developing these skills, with opportunities to work in the performance and creative industries sector as well as in a wide range of new technology and business related careers.

Qualifications / Programme Length

Level 2 – 1 Year BTEC Diplomas (Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts)

Level 3 – 2 year BTEC Diploma/Extended Diplomas (Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts)

Level 3 – 1 year fast track BTEC Diplomas (Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts)

 

Additional qualifications

As well as achieving your main BTEC diploma qualification you have the opportunity to continue your study of English and Maths – whether that means re-sitting GCSE, studying AS and A Level or simply developing your skills in these core areas.

All programmes at the Walsall Studio are tailored to you the individual student.  We look to provide bespoke professional awards and certificates alongside your main diploma that support your progression and career aspirations for the future.

 

Assessment

The main BTEC diploma qualification is assessed by coursework and in some cases timed online exam.

Additional GCSEs and A Levels are assessed by the combination of coursework and exam.

Personal coaches working with your weekly work placement supervisor also assess your wider employability skills on our Studio Sixth CREATE framework (Communication. Relating to Others, Enterprise, Applied, Thinking, Emotional Intelligence) as your develop their practical use each week.

 

Progression

Successful Level 2 Diploma students progress onto the Level 3 (advanced) Diplomas

Successful Level 3 Diploma students progress onto university or directly into employment (including apprenticeships)
